Jarras : Based on received news , Cypress Embassy in
Tehran, whose country is the head of the European Union, has written a
letter on behalf of the European Union to the Foreign Minister of Iran, in
which they have requested the freedom of Mr Mousavi and Karroobi and a meeting
with them .
The letter states : It has been 573 days since Mr.
Mousavi and Mr. Karoobi have been arrested without any legal justification ,
despite numerous calls from the international community for their release they
are still at house arrest . Moreover there are extreme limitations as far as
meeting them even for their own family members. It is also noted Mousvi’s
health condition has been deteriorating because of his heart complications.
It is reminded that the detention and arrest of the Green
leaders is without consideration to any legal due process and therefore we ask
the Islamic Republic of Iran to respects to international obligations and
respect its citizens' fundamental rights, especially freedom of expression and
speech and the immediate and unconditional release of the Green leaders from
house arrest. In addition, based of a previous request allow a meeting between
the opposition leaders and the diplomats that are in Tehran. "
